WE WILL START OUR TOUR FROM
Ios Town, Chora, with
a visit to the well-known Ios Windmills, 12 in total with 3
of them completely renovated; a wonderful reminder of
the days when the islanders used the power of the wind
in everyday life. We continue our stroll in the
picturesque Chora where you will be inspired to take
amazing photographs of the traditional alleys, houses,
and churches.
The next stop is the church of Panagia Gremiotissa, wisely
located at the highest point of Ios Town. This pictureperfect church was built in 1797 AD and owes its name to
its rocky location. From this wonderful landmark, you will
enjoy a panoramic view of the Town.
Our Chora tour continues as we visit the open Theater
Odysseas Elytis, named after the Greek Nobel Prizewinning poet. We continue to Homer’s Tomb, the place
where allegedly the famous ancient Greek poet restsParagraph, for any kind of product, service or description.
Our last visit is Palaiokastro, a castle built at an altitude of
275m to protect the island from the pirates. Following the
traditional path to the top, which includes a scenic 20-
minute hike, you will discover the castle ruins, a quaint
Cycladic chapel, and breathtaking views of the Aegean
Sea.
